What a great meeting we had last month. Good turnout and accomplished a lot, and thoroughly enjoyed the presentation Denise gave on Pilots and Paws. We were happy to have Janice McCollough visit with us and hope she decides to join the 99s.The article which was submitted to the 99 News from our chapter featured Pilots 'N' Paws, which was completely edited out. We are hearing that many 99s are becoming interested in the Pilots 'N' Paws as well as other similar organizations. Not many places where you can do a service and fly - plus deduct the expenses on your tax return! Denise, Reni and Becky are signed up as pilots to participate in the program.
When you receive your copy of the next Approach, look for the article Cheryl Casillas submitted about our chapter. Thank you, Cheryl, for taking your time to do this.
Spring is around the corner, and hopefully beautiful flying weather. Several members are (again) hoping to fly to the Section Meeting in Mesquite, Texas in April. If you plan to go, you may use the registration form in the Approach or go online to www.scs99s.org. Early registration prices are good until March 17. April 2nd is the hotel's deadline for 99s room rates. (Disregard the early registration deadline on the front of the magazine.) Try to go - it's always fun!
And ... the chapter members are anxious for a flying activity. There are not many things we can do, especially to involve the flying community. If you have any ideas, let Reni know.

Denise Pride is working on her instrument rating.
Marty Goppert is flying the Air Race Classic this June. And... she is doing great since her surgery!
Reni is finally out of her cast & boot. Almost back to normal.
Laura's daughter, Gail, had a mastectomy, is cancer free and doing great!
Soon-to-be new member, Shawnee Delaney, is also coming out of a cast and tells us the exciting news that her WASP grandmother, Marjorie Christiansen, will be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal on March 10 and Shawnee will be representing her at the ceremony. Looking forward to meeting Shawnee real soon.
Winnie brought the Scrapbook to the meeting to get information on some of the pictures. It's looking good - thanks to Winnie. Please send any pictures, articles, etc. to Winnie for the Scrapbook - and please make notations on the pictures' backs of the dates and names of the people in the pictures. Also, the patches we requested from Michael were turned over to Winnie. Any pictures you have of the party for Michael, please send to Winnie.
It was mentioned in the meeting that Gloria considers herself News Reporter as well as Newsletter Editor, since she sends out news during the month as well. She is not the news reporter for the 99s News and South Central Section's Approach. If anyone would like the job of news reporter for the 99s periodicals, let Reni know. Or we could just continue taking turns as we're doing. It's really nice to see our chapter represented in the magazines! Cheryl did a great job for the Approach this issue. Thanks, Cheryl.
Reni is set up for the interview Tuesday next week for the radio broadcast with Ernie Villarreal of NPR (National Public Radio) featuring women in aviation. She will let us know when it will be aired. Alice Foeh is waiting for the TV interview date.

Notice this is election time - the ballot for Section officers is in the Approach. The ballots will be mailed to members for the International election.
REMINDER! March 31 is the deadline for getting your plastic pilot certificate. You may request these online or through the mail.
