What a great time we all had at the Awards Banquet. Patty always makes our gatherings fun and this one certainly was! She had many awards and put the members to work helping with the presentations. A special certificate was for Alice Foeh, the ChairmanŐs award for the Pilot of the Year, and also to Pam Crane for her longevity with the San Antonio Chapter. She joined the 99s (and the chapter) in 1969, the only lady who has been a chapter member for 39 1/2 consecutive years! Certificates were also presented to other long-term members. And for the 50th Anniversary theme of the evening, thanks and appreciation to Alice Foeh for her presentation and display on the early 99s, and for going very early and setting up and decorating for the banquet; and Laura Richter for her hours of searching in her years of memorabilia for the "50 years of history DVD". Always the thoughtful lady, Patty gave each 99 a rose corsage and beautiful paper weight in memory of the occasion. She made both items herself!
We had a little competition in hearing the music in the DVD - a band started playing on the other side of the wall, and the restaurant's audio couldn't be turned up enough, but the word is that this was just the beginning of our 50th anniversary celebration and another is scheduled in November. Any adjustments will be made to the DVD before that and the plan is to show it again.
For the records, those attending the banquet were: 99s: Jo Agee-Housler, Nancy Aldrich, Betty Sue Basham, Gloria Blank, Cheryl Casillas, Winnie Clements, Margaret Cosby, Pam Crane, Alice Foeh, Marty Goppert, Terry Hepworth. Reni Moczygemba, Laura Richter, Rebecca Smith, Patty Taylor, Sherry Walker, Marcia Weser, Dianne Wieman-Deyeso. Guests: Conrad Housler, Ruth Anne Cox, Claire Doyle, Marian Fischer, Roger Moczygemba, Bobi and Jack Tanguma, Jim Smith, Ben Taylor, Nell Sherrock, Elliott Weser, Willie Nunez, Patti and Johnny Achilles, Laura Garza and Lea Linebaugh.
As in anything with this much detail, there will generally be errors in the initial run and a couple did occur in the DVD. So, please let Gloria know if there is ANYTHING that needs correcting. (email luv2fly@ktc.com phone 830-815-1038). Considering that the person doing this for us has never met or knows anything about anyone or the organization, she has done a terrific job and it's all been "gratis". Those who have already received the DVD, will be sent a corrected copy FREE - (PLEASE EMAIL OR CALL GLORIA IF YOU BOUGHT A DVD AT THE BANQUET.). Our apologies. It's gotta be right! This DVD will be retained in chapter history as well as a copy will be sent to 99s International to be included with the rest of our chapter history. Thanks so much to you ladies who were so gracious about the errors.
Our next meeting is - July 12 at 10 AM at Casarita's Restaurant on the northeast corner of Thousand Oaks and Jones Maltzberger.
"The bears have arrived from Alaska. The 99s sent us two bears to decorate for banquet table decorations/auction. They are about 18" tall and chubby. Pretty cute. Perhaps one can go as a 50th anniversary bear complete with the paperweight and banquet program. Bring ideas and cute accessories so we can dress up bears from our chapter! Items of local interest!" ~ Patty

Also from Teresa: My dad is a WWII and Korean War pilot and he would love to have visitors. The runway is 1800 feet with no obstructions at either end. Located at the intersection of Pearsall Road and 1604 (about 2 miles north of the intersection of 1604 and IH 35 on the south side of town). It's a grass strip right next to Southwest High school. The water tower is on his property.
Even though it's hard, the sad news about Lena Cronk needs to be passed along. Lena has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and has moved in with her son, Val. The disease has progressed so much that she doesn't even recognize her sons. Her new address in the directory is good until she moves to an Alzheimer's facility.
Information in our Chapter Directory is confidential and only available to members. Phone numbers and email addresses will only appear in the newsletter with your permission.
The chapter directory is part of the chapter yearbook, which is being updated and replacement pages will be sent via email or USPS mail.
