We have lots of fun plans for the coming months.Thank you, Sherry, for again having us in your hangar for the July meeting. The Minutes are attached with all that information and the list of the attendees. Sherry had a plane to catch and left around 11 AM. We tidied up, pushed the plane back in and all met at El Rio (Margaritas) for lunch.
Our visitor and soon-to-be new member is Jody Perry. She prefers to be called "Cubby". Nancy and Sherry met her during the air race. Cubby lives in Austin, and is a delightful lady - so glad to have her join our group.
Sherry has offered her home September 12 for our "just social" gathering. Details later, but put it on your calendar.
Sherry is also planning a hangar party celebrating Nancy, Sherry, Becky, Mae and Cubby's Air Race Classic 2009 adventures, including lots of hangar flying about the air race. Nancy and Sherry were racing partners, Becky and Mae were a team, and Cubby and Linda Street-Ely comprised a team. Mae Marquet is from Lafayette, LA and Linda is from Liberty, TX. Everyone is invited to come out to Boerne Stage Airfield August 22 around 7:30 PM for beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks.
Marty offered her home for the Christmas party December 4th.
The August 8th meeting will be a fly-in/drive-in held at San Marcos Airport, CAF Hangar, upstairs in the Officers Lounge. Cheryl Casillas, along with Shaun Maycock, A&P, AI (also a student pilot), will present the program loosely named "know your plane" or what's under the cowling. The Austin Chapter 99s and EAA Chapter 958 are invited to join us. We'll begin at 10:00 AM. Although the cafe on-field is generally closed on weekends, they might open for us. Please call Reni at 210-669-1826 or email at renimoczygemba@hotmail.com. We need to know how many are coming to the meeting, and also will be staying for lunch. If the cafe doesn't open for us, we can pile in cars and go elsewhere or they said they would make us a box lunch. In any case, plan to have lunch in San Macos.
A reminder that Section Meeting will be in Denton October 2-4. Info and registration forms are online or in the current "Approach"
October 10th, EAA 958 chapter has invited us to join them as they are hosting Carol Ann Garrett who will be giving a presentation of their 8-day trip around the world. Not sure if her flying partner, Carol Foy, will be coming too. She will be selling books and DVDs to raise money for ALS. Probably in New Braunfels. More details later, but put it on your calendar as our October meeting event.
