In spite of the dryness and altitude, we seven had a great time in Albuquerque. Those who attended were: Kay Renfrow, Sherry Walker, Reni Moczygemba, Laura Richter, Jo Agee-Housler, Alice Foeh and Gloria Blank. I'm sure Kay, as Acting Chairman, will give a report of the business meeting. Oh, and the San Antonio Chapter won the travel award again!

MAY 3 - fund-raising barbeque in Sherry Walker's hangar. Details attached with this newsletter. Please peruse and contact Sherry with your choice of donations.
MAY 10 - MEETING - Our meeting will be in Sherry's hangar at Boerne Stage Airfield, and this is a meeting you don't want to miss! Steve Carlson, aeronautical engineer, will be our speaker. Steve, formally of San Antonio, now lives in Wichita, KS. Steve, Patty & Sherry were all members of the Boerne Flying Club and Steve took his instrument training from Cheryl.
He has an extremely interesting story to tell. This is a quote from an email received from Steve sent to Sherry, Patty and Cheryl, "So I'm cruising along IFR, in the clouds, at 6000 feet, on the airway just east of Johnson City, Texas in 6442B and about ten miles to go to make a turn to my intended landing at New Braunfels and the oil pressure begins a slow uncommanded descent out of the green. I called Houston center and asked for vectors to nearest airport. Confess, per training! He came right back with a vector and distance six miles. Now I was losing airspeed and the engine was getting rough so I lowered the nose to best glide . . . ". You guessed it! Steve's engine quit when he was in completely white-out conditions, and, of course, he had to make an emergency landing - you don't want to miss the "rest of the story"!
Since Steve has many flying friends here they will be invited to our meeting, especially members of the old Boerne Flying Club. Coffee and cookies will be served. Invite your friends to come, listen to Steve, and do a little hangar flying. If possible bring a folding chair because Sherry only has about 15 chairs available.
~ SherryMark your calendars for the Awards Banquet - June 21. SEPTEMBER 12-14 - Fall Section Meeting - held in Amarillo (AMA). Let's hope for fair weather so we can fly. It's 363 NM - a nice cross country flight.
Denise has come up with a brilliant idea - the First Friday Female Fun Fly-out For Food. Or something like that - all "Fs". Anyway, weather permitting, this will happen the First Friday of the month. Now, if the weather doesn't cooperate, it may be another day. But it gets us up flying and staying proficient and having fun !!! So far, Denise, Reni, Sherry, Marty, Terry and Gloria initiated this group and went up Saturday. Come join us!!
See you at the April meeting on the 12th at Kerrville Airport (ERV), 10 AM in the terminal building. RSVP to Kay now!
